Uvita – 3.28.10

Fished the rocks with Lisa in the morning. We caught a spanish mackeral and jack trolling. Then I cast at the rocks with one of my own patterns “old four eyes”. The fly is a four-eyed clouser with yelllow bucktail and gold mylar. Jackfish from Belize to Costa Rica love it. The guides wanted to…

Kernville – 9.12.09

Camped in Kernville with Keith and Liz. Did some fishing above the Johnsondale bridge on Saturday and below the bridge on Sunday. Caught three fish downstream from this. This swimming hole was the highlight.

Taylor – 8.8.09 and 8.9.09

Fished on the Taylor River for few hours with Carter on the 8th and Cory on the 9th. Caught 4 or 5 browns. Lost a good fish at my feet. Then went to Erich and Gloria’s wedding. What a great day.

West Fork – 6.29.09

Fished with Jarrett on the West Fork. Beetles were everywhere. Butterflies too. We walked and fished our way up to the 2 mile mark. It was good to be back on this stream.

Mangrove Caye – 6.13.09

Went on tour of Mangrove Caye with Patterson and Perez. Bought and drank a Goombay Punch. Fished for about 30 minutes. This is Lisa’s fish.

West Side 6.12.09

The west side of Andros was amazing. At least, 20 miles from any civilization. Completely still and saw tons of marine life: turtles, tiger sharks, lemon sharks, paddlefish, and rolling tarpon. Broke off by biggest bone of trip (30+ inch) in middle of nowhere. “Don’t worry about it Jason” said Patterson. Great time. Last fish…

South Bight – 6.11.09

Fished with Patterson and Lisa from 8 am to 1 pm. Again, amazing number of fish. Cast to an enormous school on north shore of bight. Huge fish in it. The challenge is getting the fly to the big ones before the little guys get to it. We swam on the Tiamo beach shore.

South Andros – 6.10.09

Fished with Patterson Bowleg of Mangrove Caye in South Bight. Saw many bonefish. Big ones too. I was eaten alive on my feet and ankles by doctor flies. Thunderclouds moved in at about noon and we went in.

Honey Hole – 5.21.09

Fished with Cory and Walter in Honey Hole. There were lots of reds in the morning and a pod of drum in the afternoon. The drum were not very responsive. Cory and I both caught one. I convinced him to release this fish as I thought drum would make poor table fare. That night, a…

Honey Hole and Pier – 5.20.09

In the morning, I fished with Walter in the Mesquite Bay. Great fishing. Red spoon was most effective fly. Also, a green gotcha. I released 3 or 4 fish. 1 was easily 26′. In the evening, Cory came to town and we fished from the pier. We caught a lot of trout. This trout was…

Ladyfish – 5.9.09

Fished what I think was the Cottonwood Shoreline with Bill Kinney and Mike Hays. Wind was howling. Bill and Mike caught a few trout. I caught a long skipjack.
